press-stpaulTaossunto is partnering with the City of Saint Paul to test retrofit LED solutions for their existing Arlington post street lamps. For the city, Assistant City Engineer Paul St. Martin, General Lead Electrician John McNamara and Brian Vitek, P.E., were involved. Taossunto sourced manufacturers to design custom LED solutions for the highly stylized architectural street lights.

Currently, Saint Paul and Xcel Energy are monitoring the energy consumption and light output of the LED retrofits. Preliminary cost analysis, consisting of ROI/Simple Payback and Carbon reduction has been done by Taossunto Lighting for the city, and according to city officials, the findings are "staggering."

In addition, Taossunto is currently providing Saint Paul with further support in reducing energy consumption in street lighting applications. Taossunto has teamed up with local manufacturers to provide solid-state LED retrofit solutions for Saint Paul's globe-style post lamps that dot the Upper Town, Downtown and Capitol areas.

Taossunto anticipates Saint Paul will see energy savings between 50-70% from these new LED street light applications.

press-walkerThe Walker Art Center began looking into LEDs as a source for general lighting a few years ago, but was disappointed by the low output of first-generation LEDs.

Beginning last year, Taossunto agreed to consult and supply the Walker Art Center with second-generation, high-power LED lighting to test in their new facility.

John Cook, Vice President of Minneapolis architectural firm Hammel, Green, Abrahamson, approved the light quality and light output of Taossunto PAR 30 spotlights, which cleared the way for the Walker’s Director of Planning, Howard Oransky, to implement the test.

Pending successful outcome, the Walker plans to convert existing lighting to the energy-saving LED design.

press-sciencemuseumThe Science Museum of Minnesota is not only known for showcasing cutting-edge science for the public, but also for leading the way in implementing new cutting-edge technology that improves energy efficiency. They were one of the first to implement a full scale installation of highly efficient fluorescent T8 lights.

Now the Science Museum of Minnesota has turned to Taossunto for LED efficiencies. Taossunto worked with lighting designer Cary Foss to replace halogen lights in the gift showcase area with LEDs. The Science Museum is also working on a full-scale energy audit of their  facilities and is looking to reduce their carbon footprint with other Taossunto LED solutions.
