Taossunto is partnering with the City of Saint Paul to test retrofit LED solutions for their existing Arlington post street lamps. For the city, Assistant City Engineer Paul St. Martin, General Lead Electrician John McNamara and Brian Vitek, P.E., were involved. Taossunto sourced manufacturers to design custom LED solutions for the highly stylized architectural street lights.
Currently, Saint Paul and Xcel Energy are monitoring the energy consumption and light output of the LED retrofits. Preliminary cost analysis, consisting of ROI/Simple Payback and Carbon reduction has been done by Taossunto Lighting for the city, and according to city officials, the findings are "staggering."
In addition, Taossunto is currently providing Saint Paul with further support in reducing energy consumption in street lighting applications. Taossunto has teamed up with local manufacturers to provide solid-state LED retrofit solutions for Saint Paul's globe-style post lamps that dot the Upper Town, Downtown and Capitol areas.
Taossunto anticipates Saint Paul will see energy savings between 50-70% from these new LED street light applications.
